prepping for your in-home session

This may sound like you have a lot of work to do, but I promise there isn’t much. This is mostly a little info on what to expect during your session!

To begin with, we always like to look for the areas that have the most light. When we arrive we will do a quick walk through your home and see what looks best! If you already know that the bedrooms, for instance, only get sun in the morning and we are shooting in the evening, those rooms will probably not be used. A simple thing you can do is open all of the blinds and curtains before we arrive. It’s helpful if you hide the cords and remove plastic turn-y sticks that open and close your blinds (do those have a name? 🤔)

Most of the time we will stick closer to the windows so if you know that the best light comes in the living room window it would be helpful if that area was cleared of any toys and stuff. We can usually make it work in any space, so if you want to wait until we get there to move anything around, that’s cool too!

Like I mentioned before, we look for the light, so if that means we’re shooting on your kitchen floor because the sun is just so perfect through the kitchen windows, then that is where we will be 🙃

We really like simple clear spaces, so if you have some things that you can put out of sight for a bit that would be helpful! I know these images are supposed to capture you in your home, but we want to focus on you and the permanent spaces you live in.

We might head outside if the weather allows. Sometimes our favorite images are the ones in your yard!
